Abstracts

An efficient protocol was developed for in vitro shoot regeneration from an aseptically grown seedling of Caesalpinia decapetala (Roth.) Alston using epicotyls explant on MS medium supplemented with BA (1.0 mg/l). It induced maximum number of multiple shoots with 80% response. Further proliferation and elongation was achieved on MS medium containing combinations of BA and NAA (1.0+0.5 mg/l). The elongated shoots were harvested and cultured on half strength MS medium containing IBA, NAA and IAA (0.52.0 mg/l). NAA (1.0 mg/l) has produced maximum number of roots per shoot. Rooted plantlets were made to acclimatize, hardened and gradually transferred to the field condition with 80% survival rate.
