COMBINED EFFECTS OF MAGNETIC FIELD AND CHEMICAL REACTION ON UNSTEADY NATURAL CONVECTIVE FLOW IN A VERTICAL POROUS CHANNEL

Abstracts

A numerical study is presented to investigate heat and mass transfer on unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free convective flow past an infinite vertical porous plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of magnetic field and chemical reaction. The Roseland diffusion approximate is used to analyze the radiative heat flux and its appropriate for non-scaling media. The governing boundary layer equations are simplified and non-dimensionalised. The dimensionless equations are discretized and then solved using the Crank Nicolson’s method. The effects of the governing parameters on the flow variables are discussed quantitatively with the aid of graphs and Tables for the velocity profiles, temperature profiles, concentration profiles, skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number. The Results show that the velocity and concentration profiles decreases with increasing magnetic field parameter or chemical reaction parameter or radiation parameter or suction parameter. Also, it is observed that an increase in the variable thermal conductivity leads to an increase in the temperature profile.
